Which Drill Should Be Used On Marble Fireplaces And Surrounds?

July 14, 2011

At Creative Fireplaces we specialize in manufacturing marble fireplaces in our Nottinghamshire based factory. We have been making marble fireplaces since the early 1990’s using state of the art equipment and skilled stone masons. In today’s harsh economic climate, we are one of the last fireplace manufacturers left in the UK. Our commitment to our customers in the form of low prices and quality fire surrounds has enabled us to be one of the leading (if not the largest) manufacturers in the UK. In rare circumstances we often get asked how to drill marble fireplaces and have outlined a few useful points below:

1. You may need to drill marble for a variety of reasons. The most common reason to drill a marble fire surround is to run the cable from your electric fire to a power socket

2. You must make sure that you have clearly identified the area that needs to be drilled, as mistakes cannot be rectified afterwards

3. Marble Surrounds can be drilled using a Glass drill or Masonry drill

4. It is important to note that you should never use the hammer action on drill if you have such an option as it could shatter the marble
