Where to source large fireplaces and fire surrounds 60 inches wide & how to order made to measure fireplaces and hearths

February 10, 2011

If you are re-decorating or revamping a traditional Victorian home with a lovely large living room, then you will need to source a larger than average fireplace. The majority of the fireplaces in today's market are 48 or 54 inches wide, whereas larger traditional fireplaces are larger than 60 inches wide. At creative fireplaces we are able to manufacture bespoke made-to-measure marble fireplaces, to your specific requirements (including overall width, overall height and hearth size).

Advice when ordering large fireplaces

We would always advise that you clearly measure the fireplace hearth to ensure that your new replaced fireplace base (often referred to as the fireplace hearth) will cover the cut out in your wooden flooring or carpet. If the fireplace hearth as a boxed and lipped effect, this would mean the top section of the fire hearth is longer than the base section (for this reason it is important to always clearly specify the cut out size that you are trying to replace). As creative fireplaces, we often get asked to build fireplaces do specific width in order to fit between the gap in a customer’s dado rail. If you have a specific dimensions that it is often useful to send those across in clearly labelled diagram, as well as sending over a photographs that you think may be relevant.
