Where To Purchase Tall Fire Surrounds & Fireplaces?
At Creative Fireplaces we recently got asked to manufacture a non standard tall fire surround 1200 mm tall to fulfil a customer’s specific requirements. Essentially the majority of modern fire surrounds are typically 42” high (1080mm) and are rarely as tall as 1200mm. Our client found it extremely difficult to source a fire surround that can be made to their specific requirements.
What to look for when ordering a tall fireplace:
1. Modern fire surrounds are nowadays designed to be more subtle than their predecessors and ideally the idea is always to have a fire surround that complements the room rather than forming an imposing centrepiece. For this reason, fire surrounds are usually much smaller than traditional fire surrounds which were as tall as 48” high (1219mm).
2. To properly increase the overall height of any fireplace you must always consider the proportionality of the design and ensure you maintain the overall aspect ratio of the design (hence it shouldn’t look stretched). Our order process involves firstly clearly understanding what the client requires and then discussing it with our technical stone masons that actually manufacture the fire surrounds (as they have the best knowledge and skills). The design is then carefully drawn on our CNC machinery and often sketched on paper prior to manufacturing the design. The aim is obviously to ensure we are certain that the fireplace will remain elegant and proportional, as well as achieve the specifications specified by the client. This persistence is what made British manufacturing famous and we still retain the same pride and dedication towards our work.
