Ordering A Bespoke Fireplace Back Panel & Hearth
In some specific scenarios a standard fireplace hearth or back panel would not be suitable. Some homes have specific requirements that must be considered, such as an existing cut out in flooring or gaps between dado rails. The below article will help guide you through the necessary requirements to consider when ordering a bespoke made to measure hearth or back panel
What you should consider
1. If you have a current cut out in wooden flooring or a carpet then this measurement must be covered to ensure you do not have to purchase a new carpet or floor. Hence the bottom section of the fireplace hearth must cover this area. We would strongly recommend you measure this clearly stipulated in any order that you would place to ensure that you are legally covered and to ensure there are no obvious misunderstandings
2. In some cases you may want to use the back panel to cover a lintel or recess a wood burning stove or inglenook chamber. In this case it is important to clearly identify the size of opening you need to cover. Every aspect must be considered including the overall height of the hearth (typically 60mm), otherwise the back panel will be too tall – as can be seen from the photograph below
